What You Need To Know About Maine Sheriff Deputy Gross’s Funeral

Early Thursday morning, Maine's law enforcement community lost one of their own.

On that morning, 44 year old Hancock County Sheriff's Department Deputy Luke Gross  was killed in the line of duty.

According to the KJ, his funeral will take place at noon on Thursday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.  Additionally, Governor Mills has ordered all flags to be flown at half-staff in Gross's honor.

The 44 year old Hancock County Sheriff's Department Deputy was struck from behind by a pickup truck while he was cleaning up debris from an early morning accident on Route 3 in the small Maine town of Trenton.  He later died of his injuries.

The driver of that truck has not been identified and is said to be cooperating in the investigation.  Not charges are expected to be filed.

Gross is survived by his wife of 15 years, Lauren, and by his 13-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter.  Friends and family say his lifelong dream was to be in law enforcement.

Gross was the 88th law enforcement officer to be killed in the line of duty and the first to die in the line of duty since 2019.
