Will This Famous NASCAR Driver be Maine’s Next United States Congressman?
I try not to get overly political with my articles here at work, and arguably, this won't be either. However, I think it's important to mention that while I tend to be a pretty conservative guy, I know Rep Jared Golden (D) and he's a wicked down-to-earth nice guy.
With that being said, he has Republican challenger vying for his Congressional seat this November. And, if you haven't seen the ads, this republican challenger has picked up the endorsement of former President, Donald Trump.
So, who IS the guy that is challenging Golden for his Congressional seat in Maine's 2nd district? I'll give you a couple hints. He's an Arookstook County native, an entrepreneur and loves to drive wicked fast in circles.
Any guesses yet? Okay, I'll tell you.
Former NASCAR driver, Austin Theriault, a Saint John Valley native, is running as a Republican challenger to Jared Golden's 2nd district congressional seat this November.
We checked out some info under the 'meet Austin' tab on his campaign website, and here are a few excerpts.
During his first term in Augusta, Austin wasted no time – he got bipartisan legislation passed that will help fix Maine’s roads. He also helped create a new bipartisan law that will bring more manufacturing jobs and lower energy costs to rural Maine.
However, he also saw that much more needs to be done for rural Maine immediately – and that’s why he’s running for the United States House of Representatives.
Mainers in the Second Congressional District need a voice in Washington who understands their way of life – and will fight for that way of life while forging relationships that will benefit Mainers for years to come.
