People probably spread more false rumors about Zayn Malik now than they ever did when he was still in One Direction. So much for being a normal 22-year-old!

Reports surfaced online last night (July 16) saying the Syco imprint on Sony Records would no longer work with Zayn due to Simon Cowell's loyalty to the rest of One Direction. If that sounds absurd, that's because it is: According to Billboard, that claim is patently untrue.

A spokesperson for the label said: "Zayn is still with Syco." There's nothing like a succinct statement to kill a rumor mere hours after it hits the web.

Fallout from business deals happen all the time, so if Zayn and Cowell were parting ways after all, it wouldn't be a huge shock. But to think Cowell, a savvy business man, would drop Zayn over some sort of emotional quibble, or worse, as a statement representative of his dedication to the four remaining members of One Direction (who, let's be honest, probably won't be together much longer) is laughable at best. Where there's money to be made, loyalty is often less than an after thought.

We've all learned a valuable lesson today, haven't we? Not all rumors are true! Sometimes, the Internet lies. This is usually the case when it comes to all things One Direction-related. We're still pretty sure Louis Tomlinson is going to be a dad, though.
