So today (May 24, 2021) is the day the mask mandates are going away in most situations, but Maine businesses may request that customers wear masks. But that is all the choice of those businesses or intuitions.

Are you still going to wear a mask?  Me? Maybe.

I know I will be free to be more mask-free than I have been in the last year, but I will keep one handy for those places that have decided to require them still and for any situation where I decide it's a good idea.  I am vaccinated...but I realize that is not a 100% guarantee against getting the 'rona.

The numbers of new cases of the coronavirus have been trending down in the last few weeks in Maine after jumping up over the winter months, Maine has a high percentage of people who are vaccinated, and we made it through the last summer without a big jump in numbers with our summer guests. Things are looking good.

Maine has now seen a total of 66,979 cases of COVID-19 and a total of 820 deaths. As we start to come out of this pandemic…overall, I think we have done ok. I do feel lucky to have ridden this out in a place like Maine where there are not many people, lots of places to get outside without being too close to others. In my case, the jobs we do here at the radio station, I feel we could make a difference in our community.
