Garfield is 36! The Lasagna Loving Cat First Hit Newspapers on June 19, 1978

If you’re a child of the 80s, you probably grew up watching 'Garfield and Friends' on Saturday mornings and looked forward to the weekend comics to read what Garfield, Jon and Odie were doing.

It was on this day June 19th Garfield hit newspapers 36 years ago! June 19, 1978 is when it all began for the lazy lasagna eating cat.

My daughter loves the two Garfield movies made fairly recently. The first movie features Odie accidentally in a dog show and then gets held captive and the second movie has Garfield going to England and when there gets mixed up with his royal doppelganger.
