Today I had a pre-screening, or as the hospital calls it, pre-admission testing, (P.A.T.), for the inguinal surgery on February 7th. The nurses went through the whole gamut when it came to the questions. I went in to make sure I was okay to have the operation and now, because I score a "3" in a certain run of questions I most likely will be tested for sleep apnea. So I snore a bit and get about 6 hours of sleep a night, isn't that the norm? Anyway I digress. I had an EKG and blood drawn and will get a call on February 6th with an exact time for my surgery. The question that made me the most uncomfortable, "Do you have a living will?" Am I not going to wake up after surgery?

Everyone at St. Mary's Medical Center have been great. Both the nurses and doctor and admissions have all reassured me I'll be okay. I'm healthy and young (apparently).  I too know logically that everything will be okay but you can't blame a guy for being nervous.

Now, it's just a matter of counting down the days.
