Like Quick Video Games – The Simple Clock Radio Seems to be Fading Too

This post goes sort of hand in hand with the previous story I wrote about video games. The one gift I wanted this Christmas was a clock radio that was simple to operate in the dark with decent reception. Was that easy to find?

The answer is a big fat, no. Does everyone listen to their music now on iPod? Almost every clock radio type device we looked at had an iPod or iPhone dock, none focused on the radio dial.

Strangely I rarely ever use the alarm feature as I work in the afternoon and have kids and a wife who both wake up early. I just like it for after I turn off the TV at night. I like to listen to the radio with a sleep timer. It helps me drift off. We did find one after some searching, but the standard clock radio seems to be on the way out.

Gone are the days when you could pick up AM stations from 500 or so miles away at night. As a kid I remember hearing radio stations from as far away as Kansas, Detroit even as I listened in my room twisting and turning the antenna.
