A 40-year-old Maine woman is facing several charges after she allegedly stabbed her ex-boyfriend in the head.

According to the KJ, Lindsay Richard of Norridgewock was arrested on Thursday following the alleged assault.

The article explains that the incident began when Richard went to the home of her former partner seeking to take custody of the former couple's three-year-old child.  Lindsay Richard was out on bail for a previous assault of the man and was not supposed to have contact with him.

When the man refused to give Richard the child, an argument ensued.  At one point, Richard allegedly grabbed a serrated kitchen knife and cut the man's head.

According to the article, she then took the child and fled to another residence in Norridgewock.  A short time later, police tracked her down and arrested her.  She has been charged with aggravated domestic violence assault and violating conditions of release.  Police say that as the investigation continues, she could end up facing more charges.

She is currently being held at the Somerset County Jail on $1,000 bail.  There is no word on when she will next be in court.

*NOTE - All suspects are considered innocent until being found guilty in a court of law*

The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital.
