Ashley Harriman stopped in to talk with us about something near and dear to her heart, the Miles for Mills fundraiser coming up on Memorial Day. Ashley, a junior at Maine Maritime Academy, is cousin to Travis' wife, Kelsey. The horrible incident which was to change the Mills family's life forever happened just a little over a year ago.
I somehow without knowing avoided this intersection on my way into work this afternoon by using Center St. to the Veteran's Bridge then turning left on Main St. in Lewiston. A truck took out a light post at the corner of Court St. and Turner in Auburn. The city hopes to have traffic going back through the area by 4 pm in time for the afternoon commute.
Matt is a great kid. He's 14, has a great attitude, goes to St. Michael School and, oh yeah, he needs a new heart. He is on a waiting list and will, eventually, receive one from a donor. Until then, he and his family live day to day, waiting and hoping for that call...
