I have called Southern New Hampshire home for about five years now. I am a frequent flyer of the Mall at Fox Run. Say what you will about this mall, but it's a great place to get your steps in on a rainy/snowy day in New Hampshire. I know the store selection is getting a wee bit thin, but I am never disappointed after perusing H&M, Francesca's, and Pacsun (I like to see what the kids are wearing, plus I used to work there in high school. It's nostalgic!).

There is a hidden gem in the food court at the Fox Run Mall that I don't hear a lot of people talking about. Sarku Japan is a cash-only Chinese food spot that serves up hefty portions and is a bang for your buck!

Barrington, New Hampshire, resident Resha Meylan shared with me that she has called the New Hampshire Seacoast home for four decades now, and has been getting comfort food from Sarku Japan since high school. Her kids now request it whenever they are sick.

According to Yelp, the #1 Teriyaki Chicken is by far their most-popular menu selection.

It comes with vegetables and white rice, but you can always swap out the rice for lo mein noodles if you are feeling frisky. Last time we checked, this could be done for a 30-cent upcharge. Even with the "switch-a-roo", this meal will cost you less than $10, and you will get at least two meals out of it (maybe three) depending on your appetite.

We love a restaurant that doesn't believe in inflation. Make sure you hit up the ATM before paying a visit to the iconic Sarku Japan in Newington, New Hampshire. And maybe get out a little extra cash for the tip jar. That Teriyaki chicken always comes with a side of smiles, and that is tip-worthy.
