New Footage of Gunplay’s Fight With 50 Cent’s G-Unit Crew Surfaces Online

Just days after video surfaced of Gunplay getting into a scuffle with 50 Cent‘s G-Unit crew at the 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards, new footage has emerge of the skirmish. The video shows the Maybach Music Group associate being pummeled by five G-Unit members including rapper Mike Knox.

Although Gunplay thought he was fighting with Fiddy’s security team, it appears he was duking it out with his entourage. In the midst of the beat down, Gunplay did manage to get a couple of swings off, mostly at Mike Knox, before he got pepper sprayed by police.

Mr. Knox appeared on Philadelphia’s Hot 107.9 radio station on Tuesday (Oct. 2) and shared his version of the altercation (click on the blue button below). According to the rapper, Gunplay “got his a– kicked.”

Knox also added that he wasn’t happy with the Miami rapper talking about the incident on national radio so he wanted to chime in. “If that’s what he felt he needed to do to redeem himself and make himself like he did something, that’s cool. But he got treated like a dope fiend,” he says.

Knox also insisted that 50 Cent was not involved in the fight and was there for more important reasons — to honor his late friend and manager Chris Lighty. “People always try to make it look like [50 Cent] is attached to something negative. That’s not his thing,” he says. “He wasn’t there for that.”

Meanwhile, BET’s Stephen G. Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials, downplayed the other fight that happened between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy. The executive says reports of an altercation were blown out of proportion and blames Twitter for spreading the false information. There was some shoving — it never turned into a fight. They realized it’s an awards show,” he tells Complex. “They realized we spend a lot of money to make hip-hop look good on TV.”

Granted, while no one was seriously injured in any of these fights, it still shouldn’t have happened. Thankfully, the awards show still went on without a hitch. In the end, this puts a black eye on hip-hop and doesn’t push the culture forward. It’s time for rappers to grow up and start behaving themselves accordingly at awards shows.

The 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards — sans the brawls — will air on Oct. 9 at 8PM ET.
