Edmundston, New Brunswick: A Nice Weekend Getaway

Our summer vacation this year is a trip to Halifax, where I was raised for a few days, then we’re off to Edmundston, New Brunswick. We’re bringing my mother in-law and she is a first timer to Halifax. We’ll probably check out Peggy’s Cove, the downtown waterfront and drive by all of the places that meant something to me. For example my old schools, my childhood home, maybe a few work places too.

Any Places You Loved From Your Youth Disappear?

As I get older more and more of my youth disappears either by a bulldozer, by failure over time or just due to a revamp. At any rate a place in Halifax we used go after the other bars closed has now closed for good. The Palace also known as 'The New Palace' has closed I guess because of changing times and demographics. It was such an institution in Halifax The Barenaked Ladies referenced the bar in a song, 'Hello City.' Anyway the point of this story is not so much to reminisce about an old bar as it is to think back at our young days or in this case wasted youth.

What is the furthest or craziest thing you’ve done to get a job? For this story we have to go back to the summer of 1994 when I was 22 years old. In June of 1994 I was hired as a part time DJ at a station in Yarmouth, NS. I wasn’t there very long but long enough to hear the stations in Maine over The Bay of Fundy.
