The two pit bulls ordered to be put down by the courts are missing. reports the dog's owner had taken the dog out from a walk from the Humane Society Waterville Area when she returned she said the dog got loose.

Palermo woman was seriously injured when a tractor trailer hauling plywood hit her van on Rt 3. reports officials say the truck may have been following a little too close.

Maine police say a suspect is in custody after two people were shot in Bucksport. Bucksport police have not released any information about the shooting. Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says two people were shot Wednesday night and one person is in custody. The extent of the injuries to the shooting victims was not known. McCausland says Maine State Police are assisting Bucksport police in the investigation.

A hearing to determine if a teenager charged with killing his parents will be tried as an adult will last at least one more day. Andrew Balcer (BAHL'-sur) was in court in Augusta on Wednesday, where officials are deciding on the case. He left the courtroom in the early afternoon to return to a juvenile detention facility and is expected to return on Thursday.  (More Info)

Gas is down again. GasBuddy found Maine prices have fallen 3.1 cents per gallon in the past week and were averaging $2.42. The national average has also been falling and it 16.2 cents per gallon less than last month, but also 22.3 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.

A railroad authority is exploring a pilot program that would bring seasonal Amtrak service to Maine farther north. The pilot program is being explored by the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority, which is responsible for handling Maine's contract with Amtrak's Downeaster service line. The Bangor Daily News reports the Downeaster line currently begins in Boston and runs to Brunswick. The pilot program would extend the line with new stops in Bath, Wiscasset, Newcastle and Rockland.

Jury selection is getting underway in Belfast in the trial of a woman charged with manslaughter in the death of her infant son. Court documents indicate Miranda Hopkins, of Troy, suggested that 7-week-old Jaxon Hopkins could have been smothered accidentally in January by one of her other two children, both of whom are autistic. But police say she had been drinking whisky and told investigators that she must have "blacked out."

The Maine Association of Realtors says the median sales price for existing, single-family homes in the state jumped more than 10 percent from September 2016 to September of this year. The association says the median sales price climbed to a little more than $207,000 in that time. The highest price in the state was in Cumberland County, where the $295,000 price was an increase of more than 7 percent from the previous year.

A former Maine fire chief has pleaded guilty to setting a wildfire that burned 42 acres in 2016. The Journal Tribune reports that 61-year-old Ricky Plummer pleaded guilty Wednesday to starting the fire when he was chief, under an agreement in which he'd be sentenced to two years in prison. Firefighters from several towns helped fight the April 15, 2016, wildfire that caused a nearby condominium complex to be evacuated.

Game 2 of the World Series goes to the Houston, who beat the Dodgers 7-6 Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers' usually rock-solid bullpen was anything but. Their relievers gave up six runs on four homers over the final four innings, costing them the loss in 11 innings to the Astros. Houston has evened the World Series at 1-1.

Lines of mourners have formed as Thais wait to enter official sites to pay respects to King Bhumibol Adulyadej (POO-mee-pon AH-dun-yaa-det), who will be cremated Thursday evening. The main funeral is taking place in Bangkok's royal quarter, where people gathered to watch the elaborate ceremonies outside the specially built crematorium. Replicas have been placed in provinces and in the capital where people can present sandalwood flowers and incense.

President Donald Trump says it's a "disgrace" that Democrats helped pay for research that produced a dossier of allegations about Trump ties to Russia. The president says, "It's a very sad commentary on politics in this country." News reports revealed that the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee, for several months last year, helped fund research that ultimately ended up in the dossier.

Ivanka Trump is teaming up with Republican legislators to ensure the GOP tax-overhaul package includes an expansion of the child tax credit. The White House adviser and presidential daughter appeared at a Capitol Hill press conference with GOP lawmakers. She's framing the expanded child tax credit as crucial for working families.

Some polling stations in Kenyan opposition areas did not open on Thursday after the start of Kenya's second presidential election since August, reflecting the main opposition leader's call for his followers to boycott the vote in the bitterly divided East African country. Voting proceeded in areas where President Uhuru Kenyatta has support, but fewer voters were turning out in comparison to the earlier election the Supreme Court nullified.
