29-Year-Old Fairfield, Maine Resident Killed in Truck vs Motorcycle Crash
A Fairfield, Maine man was killed in a truck vs motorcycle crash that happened on Wednesday afternoon on the Ward Hill Road in Norridgewock.
According to an article that was published by the Kennebec Journal, 29-year-old, Brock Peters, was riding his 2005 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on the Ward Hill Road. A windy and hilly road that connects Madison to Norridgewock.
While he was riding south, he was struck by a white 2006 Ford F-150 that was towing a trailer. That truck was being operated by 79-year-old, Frederick Landry of Norridgewock, Maine, the Kennebec Journal said.
Michael Michell, Chief Deputy with the Somerset County Sheriff's Department, said that preliminary findings indicate that the driver of the pickup truck drove into the path of the motorcyle.
This all happened as Peters was turning into a driveway on the Ward Hill Road. The Kennebec Journal reported that deputies say it appeared to be a head-on collision. Peters was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was promptly taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital where he died from his injuries.
Michael Mitchell, the driver of the Ford F-150, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash but was able to walk away uninjured, police say. Ward Hill Road remained shut down on Wednesday evening as officials with the Somerset County Sheriff's Office reworked and reconstructed the crash scene.
Police say that at this time an investigation into what caused the fatal crash remains ongoing and more details may be released at a later time.
Currently, there is no word of any charges pending against the driver of the Ford truck.
