According to the KJ, a Mount Vernon man lead police on a 7 mile, 90 minute long chase through the woods.

At approximately 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, a Maine State Police trooper pulled over a vehicle in southeastern Mount Vernon.  The vehicle's passenger, 30 year old Caleb Hupper, bolted from the vehicle.

For the next 90 minutes, Hupper lead law enforcement on a 7 mile long chase through Mount Vernon and Readfield.  During the pursuit, Hupper allegedly stole a snowmobile.  The Maine State Police were assisted by members of the Maine Warden Service,  Winthrop PD, Office of State Fire Marshal, and a Maine Forest Service helicopter.

Just before 5 PM, Hupper was apprehended near Maranacook Community High School, which caused the school to be briefly locked down.  He was arrested on several outstanding warrants and is expected to be charged in connection with Wednesday's chase.  Following his arrest, Hupper was taken to the Kennebec County Jail.
