After months of rumors, Paramount has confirmed that a Coming to America sequel is in the works. For real.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount has taken steps toward bringing the film into fruition, hiring original writers Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield, who wrote the original back 1988, to pen the sequel. John Landis directed the original film. At this time, there's been no confirmation that Eddie Murphy will reprise his role as Prince Akeem.

Back in March, Eddie Murphy teased that a sequel could be in the works, captioning a photo of Vanessa Bell Calloway as Imani Izzi with "Coming to America sequel?" He deleted his Twitter account shortly thereafter. Murphy hasn't made any more comments about the possibility of a new film since then. Currently, he's dealing with the untimely passing of his brother, actor/comedian/writer Charlie Murphy, who died earlier this week after a bout with leukemia.

As of right now, there aren't any more details about the sequel to the classic film but hopefully more details will be revealed soon.
