A Maine Resident Won $1 Million On A Scratch Ticket

According to WGME, a Mainer recently cashed in a scratch ticket worth a million dollars!

The ticket, $50,000,000 CA$H RICHE$ instant ticket, was purchased from a convenience store in Kittery.

While that scratch ticket was the biggest winner in the state in December 2022, there were a number of other large lottery winners last month.  According to a representative from the Maine Lottery, there were 32 other cash prizes of $10,000 or more distributed for a monthly total of $2,583,249.

The total amount of money won by people playing the Maine Lottery in December was just shy of $24,000,000.  This includes everything from the million dollar scratch ticket winner, to $10,000 Powerball winners, to people winning just a few dollars off a Megabucks ticket.

Currently, there are a few very large lottery jackpots that have yet to be won.  As of January 7th, the Powerball jackpot is $325 million and the Mega Millions jackpot is $1.1 BILLION.  The next drawing for Powerball is tonight (Saturday, January 7th) and the next drawing for Mega Millions is Tuesday (January 10th)
