A U. S. Navy Veteran’s Ashes Are Returned To His Family Thanks To A Viral Facebook Post

In spring 2017, an urn containing the ashes of US Navy Veteran Elmer M. Briggs Jr was left in a U-Haul truck in Auburn.  The people who found the urn did what most of us would do in that situation: put it on Facebook!

Over 28,000 shares later, and with the help of a Vermont-based group that specializes in reunited service men and women with lost / stolen medals, the veteran's widow has been located.  Her daughter picked up the urn in May 2017, ending a reported 16 year long search.
