If you live or work in Augusta, and you normally park on the street, take note!

Due to the severity of Saturday's Nor'Easter, the City of Augusta has enacted a 24 hour parking ban.

According to a press release, the ban will take effect at Noon on Saturday (January 29th) and expire at Noon on Sunday (January 30th).

The nature of this ban means that you cannot park on any Augusta street for any length of time without the risk of being towed.

It is important to note that a winter parking permit does not exempt you from this ban.

The press release explains the details of the statute:

§ 270-47 Removal of vehicles in violation. A. Any vehicle of any kind or description parked upon a public street of the City at a place, in a manner, or for a length of time prohibited by an ordinance of the City, or so as to impede the City's snow removal operations or traffic in the public street, is hereby declared to be an obstruction in such street and a menace to the safe and proper operation of traffic

The rule goes on to say that vehicles in violation may be towed and force may be used to enter those vehicles, if needed.
