This is great news if you are a Planet Fitness member.  The national fitness center change is going to be moving their Augusta location to a much larger space.

According to Maine Biz, in December, they'll be moving from their current location on Civic Center Drive in Augusta to Western Avenue's Capitol Shopping Plaza.

The size of the current location is 9,000 square feet.  The new location?  A whopping 22,730 square feet!  That's well over double the size of the current location.

According to the franchisee, Mike Cleary, the massive space will be created by combining three spaces at the plaza that have been vacant for several years.

Features of the new location will include a mezzanine that overlooks the main floor and well over 100 pieces of cardio equipment.

Based in New Hampshire, the fitness center franchise has over 2,100 locations across the country.

It is expected that the new location will attract between 400 and 500 members per day.  The new location could employ as many as twenty people.  Construction on the new space started Monday.  The new location is expected to open in December.
