No Memorial Day Parade in Bath this year because of illegal gambling. Booooo, hissssss. Very sad, seeing as how the parade has been a benchmark in the town for decades.

The Smith-Tobey Post 21 of the American Legion has pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated unlawful gambling, a class B felony.

The post was fined $15,000 by the state and paid a total of $18,025, according to a report in the BDN.

There were no individual criminal charges filed but, as a result, the annual parade was preempted.
