As life in Maine, and the rest of the nation, slowly get back to normal, we are seeing businesses of all varieties re-open.  Those that were not already open, or had been forced to close permanently, that is.

A few days ago, I was discussing the re-opening of favorite bars and restaurants.  During the course of conversation he brought up "that brew-pub in Bethel".  I, too, had wondered what happened with Bethel's Sunday River Brewing Company.

Even with all the news we were bombarded with over the Spring and early Summer of 2020, it was hard to miss the stories of Rick Savage and his bar / restaurant.  He and his business were frequently in the news for defying State of Maine COVID-19 mandates.  His defiance led to his licenses being pulled on more than one occasion.

After being quiet for the last few months, it looks like a Bar Harbor-area restauranteur will soon be breathing new life into the shuttered restaurant.  Bar Harbor restaurateur Michael Boland, who owns several restaurants including Bar Harbor's Havana Restaurant, will soon re-open the business.

According to the Lewiston Sun Journal, they are in the process of hiring a complete staff and, with some luck, the restaurant could re-open on Wednesday, June 9th.

Boland says he hopes to employ about sixty people - a mixture of full-time and part-time.

While Boland has not yet purchased the restaurant, it is under contract.  The price was not disclosed.  Initially, the restaurant will re-open with a one month lease.
