Black Violin to Perform in Waterville, Maine This February
On Wednesday, February 25 at 7:30pm, the Waterville Opera House will host Black Violin, a duo known for blending classical string music with modern sounds. The performance will take place at the Waterville Opera House, located at 1 Common Street in downtown Waterville.
Black Violin is made up of violinist Kev Marcus and violist Wil Baptiste, who have been performing together for nearly twenty years. Their music combines traditional string arrangements with hip-hop beats, pop influences, and vocals, creating a sound that appeals to a wide range of audiences.
NPR has praised the group for helping keep classical music relevant for younger generations. In addition to touring widely and playing close to 200 shows each year, Black Violin places a strong focus on outreach, often performing for students in underserved communities. Over the past year, they have reached more than 100,000 students through these performances.
