Central Maine High School Going Full Remote Due to COVID-19
According to the Kennebec Journal, the battle with COVID-19 and staffing is once again rearing its ugly head in Central Maine.
The KJ reports that Maranacook Community High School will be going fully remote for at least the remainder of this week due to too many staff members out with COVID to properly staff the school for in-person learning.
According to Superintendent, Jay Charette, 20 students are positive with COVID and 5 staff members. Additionally, he says that some of the school staff had pre-scheduled absences that added to the shortage at the school.
Charette told the KJ,
“We are trying to remind people there are still things we should be doing that are important. Things haven’t disappeared, COVID-19 isn’t gone and we have to be smart about it.”
The KJ also reports that Maranacook High School is currently the only school in the RSU 38 district that is affected, and that the RSU's other schools will remain open as normal this week, unless something else changes.
