Maine’s pine tree and star flag could soon be making a comeback, but at what cost?

According to WGME, if the bill to redesign the flag is approved, the taxpayers are asking how much they will have to shell out for taxes.

The new flag proposal goes back to the original design in 1901. There have been different opinions on this design from excitement and concern.

The vote will take place on November 5 when Maine people will be asked to decide if they want to change the flag design.

State officials told WGME that taxpayers shouldn't have to pay anything extra from the flag change.

The Maine Office of Fiscal and Program Review said that the costs will be minimized by gradually replacing the flags.

According to the office, the expenses will align with the cost of replacing worn or frayed flags as part of maintenance. So at least, we won't have to shell out a huge amount of money for the flag change.

But there still is a problem, it's the opinions of the public, according to WGME 13 Facebook. You can read all of the comments here. From what I have read through, nobody likes the idea. Well, let's say 99% of Maine people are against the change of the flag design.

Below is a gallery of some of the passionate comments on the new/old flag design.
