The popular Damariscotta Pumpkinfest has made an announcement regarding the 2021 Pumpkinfest, some things are still going to happen, and a lot of stuff will not.

According to a press release, the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta is happy to let everyone know that the Giant Pumpkins on Main Street that are all decorated by hand by local artists, is going to go on as scheduled this year. Look for those Giant Pumpkins to arrive on Main St. in Damariscotta Thursday, October 7th. They will be placed in front of local businesses. Then the following day, the artists will paint and carve the pumpkins all day Friday, October 8th. If you don't make it down that day, no worries, as the pumpkins will be on display for about 10 days downtown.

The festival co-founder Buzz Pinkham, great name by the way, said:

“We encourage families and visitors to come see the Giant Pumpkins on Main St. anytime between Saturday, October 9 and Tuesday, October 19. By spreading out visits over a 10-day window, everyone will be able to enjoy town and the pumpkins"

As in years past, since it can get a bit crowded downtown, there will be remote parking and buses that will shuttle people downtown.

There will also be maps available showing where the pumpkins are, as well as information on each one. You can find the maps on the buses and at many local businesses.

Now the bad news, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and suggestions from the Maine CDC, all the other festival events, including the famous pumpkinboat Regatta, will not happen this year.
