For many young families, adopting a puppy straight from the breeder is the obvious choice.  They are looking for a young, playful dog who is filled with energy and will be with them for many years.  This is completely understandable.

However, for some, an older dog makes sense.  A pup who is a lot calmer, but just as loving.

If this is the kind of dog you are looking for, you need to stop by the Kennebec Valley Humane Society to meet Chevy.

Chevy is a very loving, loyal, senior dog that has, sadly, been at the Kennebec Valley Humane Society in Augusta for the better part of a year.  At the time of the writing of this article, he has been there for over 200 days.

A post on the KVHS Facebook page explains that, even though he is not young and playful anymore, Chevy would make a great companion for the right family.

The post says, in part:

Chevy is the perfect companion for anyone looking for a mellow, loyal and loving friend. His only request is to be the star of his show; he's a total gentleman when he sees other animals out & about but prefers not to share a home with them.

Want to meet Chevy or any of the other pets at the Kennebec Valley Humane Society?  You can take a look at available cats and dogs on their website.

And remember, if you live in the Waterville area, you can always check out the available puppies and kitties at the Humane Society of The Waterville Area.
