To say that this New England winter has been lackluster in terms of snowfall would be an understatement.

Does anyone else remember growing up here in the '80s and '90s and getting so much more snow each and every winter?

Same.

How many storms Has Maine Had Since 2024?

If you're only counting storms that justify going out to plow or shovel the driveway, most of New England has only seen two storms since November 2024 (3 in some areas) that have required any type of cleanup.

Sure, the road plows go out for even small snow showers, but that's not what we're talking about here.

It's true, the weather patterns have been pretty quiet in this region so far this season.

Additionally, some of the heaviest precip that New England has experienced since November has come down in the form of rain- and that's not helpful for snow lovers.

What will winter in January 2025 bring?

As always, we're turning to our trusty sources at the Farmers' Almanac to take our best guess as to what's to come.

According to the Farmers' Almanac website for the January forecast, there is still hope for us to get a substantial amount of snow here in New England.

Farmers' Almanac predicts a 'fast moving clipper' storm that will pass through part of the region Jan 8-11, which will likely bring several inches of snow to western and northern New York.

For January 12 through the 15, the Almanac says that pretty much all of New England will be windy with a wintery mix of precipitation including what they say will be 'windswept rain'.

How fun?

Any big storms towards the end of January 2025?

Snow lovers rejoice because the Farmers' Almanac is predicting, in their words, a "fast-moving coast-hugging East Coast storm delivers wintry mix for coastal plains, moderate-to-heavy snowfall inland. They go on to explain that they expect this storm to hit somewhere around January 20 through the 23.

To round out the month, another New England winter storm is predicted to bring 6+ inches of new snow to the region January 24-27. The snow will accumulate from southern Pennsylvania through northern Maine.

Aside from a few pop-up snow showers and squalls that are likely to happen, that's just about it for snowfall predictions for the remainder of January.

And, while there's no 'blockbuster' type storm on the way, a couple of these should at least provide enough snow for some fun outdoor wintertime activities.

Hopefully, February 2025 is a little bit more 'active'.
