18,000 Doses of Fentanyl Seized in Maine, Three Arrested And Charged
It's no secret that the drug epidemic is wreaking absolute havoc, not just in Maine, but all around the United States. As a record amount of fentanyl is coming across the border and more and more drugs are being laces with it, arrests and overdoses are nearing an all-time high.
Fortunately here in Maine, we have police departments that are tirelessly dedicated to working to rid the streets of this awful and deadly substance.
According to an article published by WGME 13, three people have been arrested in Portland following a major fentanyl seizure.
According to the news station, the arrests happened over a period of time that spanned from March 5th through March 11th. During those arrests, Portland Police were able to seize over 37 grams of fentanyl. That equates to about 18,000 doses of the deadly drug.
WGME said about the arrests that the three suspects, 42-year-old Dan Doody, 34-year-old Edward Stewart and 39-year-old Katherine Haskins are all looking at multiple charges including drug trafficking.
WGME went on to report that Portland Police say that just two milligrams of fentanyl can be deadly to a person. That makes the amount seized in these arrests even more staggering.
The investigation is still ongoing and we will continue to keep this story updated as more information becomes available to us.
