Four people from Central Maine were arrested on drug charges following a raid on an Augusta hotel yesterday (April 3).

According to Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and officers from the Augusta Police raided an Augusta hotel room late Monday evening, seizing a large amount of heroin and making four arrests.

MDEA Agents recently received reports of drug trafficking from a room at the Augusta Inn on Edison Drive, and the follow up criminal investigation resulted in a search of one of the motel rooms, McCausland said. Agents seized over 350 grams of heroin, with a conservative street value of more than $70,000, a small amount of crack cocaine, and $3,852 in cash which is believed to be proceeds from drug sales, according to McCausland.

Four suspects were present when agents arrived and were arrested and taken to the Kennebec County Jail.
