Friends, Familiar Places + Gun Food Makes For a Perfect Day!
When my dear friend Mike said he was free today and would love to take a ride to the coast I was excited. The first thing I did was call Wal*Mart in Rockland to see if they had any 9 millimeter gun ammo and they did, although the guy said it could be gone anytime...
9mm ammo at Wal*Mart is one of the most desired commodities for us plinkers (aka target shooters) on the planet. Twenty-two bucks for a box of 100 or 13 dollars for 50. They had the 50 round boxes when I got there, so that's what I got. To give you an idea of how tough it is to find, one place we stopped at on the way down was selling a box of 50 for $44.95. We actually got a good laugh out of that. Even with the scarceness of ammo, that was a little steep!
As we headed to Belfast along Route 1, Mike told me about a place called Point Lookout Resort and Conference Center in Northport. He told me and his wife, Debbie (a teacher at Augusta's Lincoln School), had gone to a wedding there and that it was beautiful. That was no understatement. The property, once owned by MBNA, had a large reception building at it's base, cabins headed up toward the summit and a reception center/restaurant at the top which overlooked the ocean. Absolutely gorgeous! You NEED to check it out when you're in the area.
After a stop there and at the Outdoor Sportsman shop in Northport (another great gunner/hunter/fisherman center), we headed to Belfast and Rollie's Bar and Grill. Mike hadn't been there before but he will certainly go back! Great conversation with my friends Shelley and Elaine plus awesome food and grog made the afternoon complete. Nothing like sharing the afternoon with people you know and feel comfortable with.
Whatever you do, make it a GREAT weekend and hopefully we see you at the 92 Moose Electricity Maine Bridal Showcase tomorrow at the Hathaway Creative Center in Waterville!
