To say the Red Barn cares would be an understatement. Laura and the crew have raised thousands and thousands of dollars for those in need over the years, and have shown no signs of slowing down.

On Wednesday, March 8, that tradition will continue as a fundraiser is set up for Rebecca and Kenny Kane.

Rebecca Kane's journey has not been an easy one. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, and after undergoing surgery and treatment, the cancer spread to her ovaries and she had them removed. She was cancer-free for about nine years, and then, in 2014, it came back and spread to her bones and eventually her stomach. Her oncologist told her 2 weeks ago that she has a year or less to live, and while the prognosis is not good, her will and good spirit has been evident through these tough times.

Kane, 55, of Waterville, was a massage therapist for 30 years and more recently the Welcome Center and Campus Visit coordinator for Thomas College. Kane’s husband, Kenny is on leave from his job at Maine General Medical Center so he can help care for her. Which means money is tight in these trying times.

Enter Laura Benedict and the Red Barn. They have agreed to do this fundraiser to help out the Kane's on Wednesday, March 8 from 4PM to 6PM. The food is always great at the Red Barn and they have agreed to donate 50% of all proceeds to the Kane's.

Check out the menu for the fundraiser below.

If you are unable to make this great event, there is a Go Fund Me page set up to help Rebecca and her family.
