Gas prices are slightly up this week in Maine, but the national average for a gallon of gas has gone down.

According to the price monitoring site Gas Buddy, the average price for a gallon of gas in Maine this week is $2.247, which is up over a penny from last weeks state average of $2.236.

Nationally, the average price for a gallon of gas in $2.239, which is down from last weeks price of $2.260.

We searched locally for the lowest gas prices in Central Maine.

In Augusta, the cheapest prices we could find were at at the Irving Station at 262 Western Ave, the Kenoco at 363 Western Ave, and the Kenoco at 291 State Street. All three reported gas at $2.21 a gallon.

In Waterville, the Mobil at 94 Pleasant Street was the cheapest place we could find for gas. They are selling it for $2.21 a gallon. The Citgo at 364 Main Street was next as they checked in with gas for $2.24 a gallon.

In Skowhegan, the Irving at 374 Madison Ave is selling gas at $2.27 a gallon, and in Pittsfield, the CN Brown at 150 S Main St is selling gas at $2.13 a gallon.

In Gardiner, the cheapest place we could find for gas was at Cumberland Farms on 146 Bridge Street which reported gas at $2.22 a gallon.

And in Winthrop, the cheapest price we could find for gas was at Cumberland Farms 410 Main Street. They checked in at $2.29 a gallon.
