It's not clear whether the task force will be focused on creating new ATV regulations, expanding the state's 6,000+ miles of ATV trails or none of the above. What we DO know is that Maine, like a lot of other rural states, is seeing a growing number of residents purchase and rid ATVs.

According to the KJ, around 70,000 ATVS are registered annually in Maine, and that number is only growing. The special task force, created by the Governor, will take a special look at how ATV use has impacted local and private landowners. The task force is set to review the data collected and have recommendations for improvements to Janet Mills by the 1st of January.

Either way, get out, have fun, and respect private and public lands alike!
