This weekend it is the Great Falls Balloon Festival. Tonight looks like another great launch. The weather should co-operate and the balloons should go up at about 6 pm.

Morning and evening launches are both exciting in their own little way. In the morning, the lighting is a bit better for pictures and the crowds are smaller, at the same time the evening launches have the crowds, vendors, entertainment and concessions which make the event that much more of an attraction.

I went this morning before attending Made in Maine at the Colby College field house. Every balloon went up even the specialty balloons which this year are, 'Pegleg Pete' and 'Sunny Boy'.

After tonight’s launch, assuming, there will be a moon (balloon) glow which in its self is really cool.

The Great Falls Balloon Festival is family friendly and always a fun time. So head down to Simard-Payne Park, bring your lawn chair, take in the balloons and enjoy yourself!

Here are a few pictures from this morning.
