Half a Pound of Deadly Fentanyl Seized, Multiple People Arrested in Substantial Maine Drug Bust
It seems like every day we are reporting on another bust involving the deadly drug, fentanyl. There is no doubt that it has grown into an epidemic, not just in Maine, but nationwide. And we have to always remember to keep the men and women of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency in our thoughts as they put their lives on the line each and every day to try and keep our communities safe.
According to WGME 13, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency has made another, and quite substantial, drug bust. The news station is reporting that the bust was made at a home in the town of Lee, Maine on Wednesday.
WGME says that Maine officials executed a search warrant at the home on Lee Road on Wednesday following was has been an ongoing drug trafficking investigation in Penobscot County. The Maine DEA said the investigation has been going on for several months.
During the search, officials were successfully able to remove more than 250 grams of deadly fentanyl from the home. WGME reported the street value of the drugs to be more than $35,000. 250 grams converts to about half a pound of fentanyl.
In addition to the drugs, police also seized multiple firearms, including a 9mm pistol, a .38 caliber revolver and a sawed-off shotgun, WGME reported. $20,000 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, was also taken from the home.
Police then arrested Pedro Manuel Sanchez Lugo, 36 of the Dominican Republic, and Tom Lee Severance, 27 of Lee.
Lugo was charged with aggravated drug trafficking is being held without bail. Severance was charged with aggravated drug trafficking and is being held on $35,000 cash bail.
