According to the KJ, Hannaford Supermarkets are now offering paid parental leave.

The program, which begins Sunday (9/1), offers up to six weeks of paid leave to parents during the first year following the birth, adoption or legal placement of a child.

The only catch is that you have to work for the store at least 30 hours per week.

The regional supermarket chain, which employs 10,000 people in Maine, estimates that at least half of their workforce will immediately be eligible for the benefit.

Other Maine companies offering similar benefits include LL Bean, Walmart, and Unum Group.
