Potential Foreign Material Prompts Hannaford Ground Beef Recall

Hannaford has issued a recall for certain packages of ground beef sold at its Farmington location after the product was found to potentially contain foreign material.

According to the Kennebec Journal, the recall applies to Hannaford brand ground beef labeled 81% lean and 19% fat that was purchased on Saturday at the Hannaford store located at 131 Hannaford Drive in Farmington.

The affected packages have a sell-by date of August 2 and include the following UPC numbers:

• 21129100000
• 21128700000
• 21128800000

Hannaford says the recall is limited to the Farmington store and does not include ground beef sold at any of its other locations.

As of Monday, no injuries or illnesses connected to the recalled product had been reported.

Customers who purchased the affected ground beef are being advised not to eat it. The product can be returned to the Farmington Hannaford for a full refund. Customers may also return just the packaging if they no longer have the ground beef itself, the KJ reported.

Anyone who recently purchased Hannaford brand 81% lean ground beef at the Farmington location should check the sell-by date and UPC number before using it.

The recall only applies to purchases made on Saturday at that specific store.
