Last fall, we learned that the Southern Maine donut-lover's staple The Holy Donut planned to expand.

According to the Lewiston Sun Journal, they have opened their first location in Central Maine.  As of today, January 11th, they now have a location at 848 Minot Ave in Auburn.

Today was planned as a "soft opening" that will allow the staff to get all the kinks worked out.  They will officially open tomorrow.

The new location will be open from 6 AM to 4 PM, seven days a week.  For now, it will offer drive-thru service.

If you've ever had a donut from The Holy Donut, you know their really good, but a little different.  What's the secret?  They're made with potatoes!  No, seriously.  Aroostook County potatoes are a part of the batter, given them a really unique texture.

Some of their unique varieties include maple bacon, fresh lemon, and Allen's Coffee Brandy.

The next time you have a chance to visit any of their locations, keep us in mind.  We'd gladly accept the gift of a dozen donuts.
