I like to think of myself as being a pretty good navigator.  Given my side hustle as an event DJ, I kind of need to be.  That job takes me all over New England.  One Saturday, I am at a rustic barn in Bethel, the next I'll be at a hotel ballroom in North Conway, the week after that will take me to a backyard BBQ in Winslow.  As a result, I have learned many of the backroads of New England.

Because of this, I was kind of surprised by what happened to me on Saturday evening.

Apparently, I spent the majority of the night on an island AND NEVER EVEN REALIZED IT!

I had a small, intimate, wedding I was DJing at Aragosta at Goose Cove - this amazing restaurant on Deer Isle.

A normal person would have figured out, given the place was called Deer Isle, that I was on an island.  Not this guy!  Honestly, I never even looked at the location.  I just keyed "Aragosta" into Google Maps and blindly went where it told me to go.

I drove from Augusta, to Belfast, to Bucksport, and on toward the venue without really thinking where I was going.

I got there, did load in (unloading my vehicle and setting stuff up), did the gig, and did load out.  Just before I left, I asked the bartender if there was a nearby gas station that would still be open.

What she asked me in return kind of floored me...

She asked me if I was staying on the island or not.

My response was to ask, "Island?"

That's when I found out that the BIG bridge I had crossed had actually taken me onto Deer Isle.  In hindsight, it all makes sense.
