Can you even imagine...turning a knob and fresh, clean water comes out without your having to go to a friend's house to fill up jugs or melt snow in buckets? I remember when that's how life was!

Life's little luxuries aren't so "little" and you realize that when you have to do without. We're spoiled by conveniences.

Yesterday, our water stopped working. We have a well and the pump is fine and there's water in the ground. So, it's not getting to the house. That means, most likely, either the line is frozen underground or, worse, it's broken. Either way, we have no free flowing H20 coming out da faucets. Or into the toilets.

Yesterday was manageable. Went to my daughter, Michelle's, to shower before trivia at the China Dine-ah. When I left, Lisa Wardwell, who owns the restaurant, sent me home with 3 five gallon buckets of water. Sure beats melting snow in buckets!

Now, I'm wondering what today will bring. New challenges. More traveling to the bathrooms of the kids for showers and such. Oh, and let's not forget dirty dishes piling up in the sink.

What wimps! I admit it, I like...rather, love, creature comforts. Water is a big one. So is electricity. And cable! How did people survive without those things?

Last night as I went to bed, I screamed out to nobody: "Take my electricity! Just let me wash my face and brush my teeth!"

As quickly as I said the words, I remembered the water pump is electric.

"Never mind!" I yelled.
