According to the KJ, iconic Hallowell grocery and convenience store Boynton's Market is on the market.

Ruth and Don LaChance, who have operated the market since early 2012, have put the business on the market.  The list price?  Just under $70,000.

The reason for the sale?  Don, who recently turned 66, is hoping to have more free time.  Since his wife, Ruth, recently had surgery, he has been on the job non-stop.  He's hoping to take some time off.

The business, which is located on the block between Central Street and Union Street, has been around since 1936.  The original location was one door south of the current location.

In 2011, the store (in its old location) closed for renovations, but never reopened.  After some turmoil, the LaChances leased the current location and moved the store.

it could be the perfect opportunity for a person who wants to be their own boss.  Included with the price is the store's equipment.  Current inventory would be extra.  The location still has a year left on its ten year lease.
