Over the last few years, Mainers have been blessed by some of the nation's best discount carriers adding new direct flights from Portland.  It was only a few years ago that, if you wanted to go anywhere that someone really wanted to go, you had to deal with at least one layover.

That's no longer the case.  Now, you can often hop a flight that is direct from Portland International Jetport to wherever...  Even the theme park paradise of Orlando!

According to a post on their website, Breeze Airways will soon be offering direct flights from Portland to Orlando.  The website shows the service starting on September 6th and being available Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sunday.

Also, at least for now, the flights will be fairly cheap.  About $100 one-way.

Of course, it is important to remember that, because of how shaky the economy is, these prices could jump even before the service goes into effect.

Breeze Airways also offers, or will soon offer, flights to Long Island, New York, Pittsburgh, Charleston, South Carolina, and Tampa.

Breeze Airways not your first choice?  Portland International Jetport is also served by Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, American Airlines, Southwest, and SunCountry. Get all the details from the airport's website.
