If your kid has ever tried to convince you that wearing a costume to dinner is perfectly normal, Friendly's is about to give them a pretty good reason to make that argument.

The iconic restaurant chain is going all-in on Halloween this year, with rare collectible cards, a costume contest and a deal that could make October 31 a little easier on parents' wallets.

First up, there's a rare card that kids can't simply buy.

Starting October 17, Friendly's is introducing Fang, an ultra-rare addition to its Conehead Crew collectible card lineup. There's just one way to get your hands on one: show up at Friendly's wearing a Conehead costume between October 17 and 31. The cards aren't available for purchase, and they're only available while supplies last.

So, yes, your child's Halloween costume could double as a ticket to collectible-card glory.

There's also a little something for the kids who love showing off their costumes.

From October 17 through Halloween, guests can dress up, take a photo at Friendly's, post it on social media and tag the restaurant for a chance to win a $200 Friendly's gift card. No purchase is necessary to enter.

And then comes the big one for parents.

On October 31, kids in costume eat FREE at participating Friendly's locations with the purchase of an adult entree. The offer is available for one day only.

Considering Halloween can involve costume changes, school parties, trick-or-treating and enough candy to keep a dentist busy until Christmas, having dinner taken care of is a pretty nice bonus.

The promotions build on Friendly's Kids Experience Program, which introduced the Conehead Crew, collectible trading cards and a special back-to-school kids' meal deal.

Friendly's says the idea is to make a restaurant visit about more than just eating. With a little collecting, dressing up and Halloween excitement thrown into the mix, the chain is hoping to give families another reason to stop by.
