Maine Man Sentenced to 45 Years in Prison For Killing Waterville Man
According to an article on the Fox 23 website, a Clinton man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for the 2024 killing of a Fairfield man in Waterville.
Fifty-five-year-old Richard Hatt received the sentence after pleading guilty to the murder of 47-year-old Stephen Killam. Killam was found dead inside a vehicle in the parking lot of Mount Joseph nursing home in Waterville.
In addition to the murder charge, Hatt pleaded guilty to assaulting two other people. Prosecutors said one of the victims was a man Hatt mistakenly believed was Killam.
According to prosecutors, Hatt stalked Killam for six years before the fatal shooting, during which Killam was shot 13 times.
