The Good Table in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Opens Under New Owners This Week

The new owners of the Good Table restaurant in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, have huge shoes to fill.

There will be menu changes and decor changes for the loyal. And there are many loyal to the Good Table in its 38 years. Mainebiz spoke to the new owners, who expect a little hesitancy from the longtime customers.

The group that bought the restaurant isn't a fly-by-night operation. The Prentice Organization also runs EVO Kitchen+Bar, Marina Bar,  TWELVE Restaurant, and 58 Culinary. All are some of the most respected restaurants in Maine. Chef Matt Ginn has crafted a new menu of elegant comfort food. He opened Evo Kitchen + Bar almost 10 years ago. He told Mainebiz,

The menu was inspired by foods I’d serve you if you dined in my home — for some that is a roast chicken, for others that’s mac-and-cheese. Regardless of age or dietary restrictions, even just preferences, I wanted to make sure the menu felt homey and welcoming. The space itself is a nod to a Cape-style home, from the sideboard to the original photographs on the wall.

When is The Good Table in Cape Elizabeth open to the public?

They had a soft opening this weekend, and despite the ice storm, it was a success! They open to the public on Thursday, March 28. The reviews are in from those lucky enough to get a sneak peek. One woman on Facebook commented,

I was lucky enough to have already enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the new GT!! It was amazing!! Looking forward to going back!! Class act of the changing of the guards
