High School Graduate in Massachusetts Stuns Class With Goodbye Notes
This high school class president in Massachusetts is an old soul.
Mason Macuch is the class president of Apponequet Regional High School in Lakeville, Massachusetts, according to Boston.com. He spoke to the graduating class, but it wasn't just a speech. He went above and beyond, writing a personal note to each graduate – all 180 of them.
In his speech, he said (to the surprise of everyone),
I wish I could’ve acknowledged you all, but there was simply not enough time. Instead, I want you to reach under your chairs, where you will find a personal note that I’ve written to each of you as a way to say one final goodbye and thank you for making these years that will soon pass the ‘good ole days.’
How long did it take to write 180 individual thank-you cards?
Boston.com states that it took Mason about 10 hours to write the cards. Because he was the class president, he knew most of the kids.
I just wrote anything from farewell messages to little memories that I had with whoever I was writing to, or maybe if it was a close friend, a longer message to them. Anything that I could think of about the person I wanted to say about them before we graduated and went on our separate ways.
It was a complete surprise, even to his best friend Conor Tripp. Conor said that he got very emotional from the kind gesture. It is a special way to recognize and form a bond with everyone. Mason is off to college to study biochemistry. He will do great things no matter where he lands.
