Magical Tree Lighting in This Christmas Maine Town

Kennebunkport during Christmastime is magical for so many reasons. The little town is right on the water, and offers so many well-decorated gift shops and restaurants that add to the atmosphere.

Kennebunkport was also listed high on a list of the 12 Best Christmas Towns in Maine, according to visitmaine.net.

The Monument Square tree lighting in downtown Portland, Maine, has already come and gone last weekend. So if you missed it, you've got another shot to watch one in an even more magical atmosphere located in Kennebunkport, Maine!

This Friday, December 1, the tree lighting ceremony in Dock Square kicks off the magical season at 6 p.m. with a special guest appearance by the Kennebunkport High School Chamber Choir.

Take the whole family for dinner before the event at one of my favorite spots on the water, The Boathouse. If the water is frozen, it makes for a really cute backdrop for Instagram photos (sorry, I said it).

During the month of December, Kennebunkport hosts what's called their Christmas Prelude, and it is SO much fun. Basically, for each night of the month, they'll put on some kind of winter activity for you to enjoy with the family, which really makes you feel like you're home for the holidays.
