Sometimes it amazes me the things that I stumble upon on YouTube. When watching a video from CNN about how some Airbnb owners have put hidden cameras in their rentals, I thought, "Well, that can't be happening in Maine." Seconds later, the story cuts to Westbrook, Maine. This is very creepy.

CNN investigated hidden cameras in Airbnb rentals, and what the company was doing about it. These hidden cameras are tiny. Just look at how small the lens is on your smartphone. Cameras have been found in phone chargers, light fixtures, and alarm clocks.

The story shows how simple it is to install these cameras in bedrooms, and then the CNN crew demonstrated just how easy it is to install hidden cameras that are in plain sight.

They also have a short piece about an incident in Westbrook, Maine, where an Airbnb owner had installed cameras in a bedroom to take pictures of people in the bedroom. The location of the Airbnb and the owner were not identified in the story, but audio recorded by the Westbrook Police Department is.

With Airbnb not taking any action on this situation, it makes you wonder why they would do such a thing. Quietly sweeping things like this under the rug is downright criminal if you ask me.

If this can happen in Westbrook, it can happen anywhere. It wouldn't hurt to check around your Airbnb rental for anything that looks like it could have a camera in it.
