America's New No. 1 Supermarket Has One Location in New Hampshire

If there is one thing we can agree on, it's that the cost of everything in the grocery store has gone way up.

If we as consumers aren't happy with the grocery store we shop at, there's another one right around the corner that will take our money.

Every year, the ACSI does a study of consumers to see who is ranked the best, and in 2024, Costco took the top spot.

Some of the qualities that we want in our grocery stores surprised me, but it might be because I'm old school.

For instance, the list includes references to "Pick up of groceries." What? What's that? You go to the store and you get your groceries and bring them to your car. Also, there are references to the quality of the store's app, which is another reference to looking on your phone for groceries. Here's how you're supposed to do it: walk up and down the aisles and choose what you want.

Anyway, here are the top 10 factors:

Easy pickup
Quality of their app (oh, how far we've come!)
Store hours
How accurate the order is after you pick it up
Convenient store location
Reliability of mobile app
How fast the order is ready
How clean the store is
Selection of brand name products
Quality and freshness of meat and produce.

There's only one Costco location in New Hampshire, and it's in Nashua. There's also only one Costco in Maine. Have you been to either?

I never would have guessed Costco as the No. 1, mostly because I don't shop there.

My favorite grocery store that's on the list is Trader Joe's. Market Basket doesn't even make a showing in the top 10, but that might be because they aren't the most modern chain around (but that's just a guess).
